Oh yes.

Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

It MUST be read...by EVERYONE...for it KICKS ASS.

The style is lovely. Gregory has always had his own style...almost wry and very straightforward and blunt, but in his own slow, descriptive, distant manner. It's the kind of thing you have to get used to. It's much more complicated and drawn out in Wicked...in Confessions it's much easier, IMO. As I've said, less bogged down, much more to the point. I adore the style with the plot and the characters are to DIE FOR. Well, Iris, Caspar, The Master and Margarethe (SP? because I'm too lazy to look up her real name) are to die for. Ruth is there, and I like her, but she's not exactly big in the plot, though CLARA...I care not that she's so high and mighty and big and important. She angers me. Dissing my Iris and her mother, and being such a snotty little spoiled girl. I suppose the narrator IS telling it from Iris POV, so Clara would naturally be looked down upon, but I still hate her. Rawr.

Caspar is a god. I love Caspar. NO ONE IS BETTER THAN CASPAR. I finally get him around once a chapter, and oh how happified it makes me. He's just...lovely. He's the Fiyero, then again I hate to describe him as such, because I like him much better than I like book!Fiyero, and quite possibly musical!Fiyero. Caspar is a pretty, pretty man, and beyond adorable. He's FUNNY, too. I think I'm in love with him. Then again, I want Iris to hook up with him. Oh, how I do. But she is stupid, for she goes all melty when he holds her wrists, then runs off. Silly Iris. You know you love him, and Clara does as well. The snobby changeling child knows you more than you know yourself. Tsk tsk.

Iris rocks. I never lurved the stepsisters so much. Confessions would CERTAINLY work well as a movie, and I have at least one scene waiting in my head, constantly playing out. Not much more than 30 seconds long, but it's a nice scene. I like it. Depressing, no doubt, but it sets all so much into motion. Yay.

This has been my rant. Bwaha.

Caspaaaarrrr.....

Im just going to sit and wonder.

Gregory has always had his own style...

Well... If he has a style, I just did not pick it up other than mass confusion and his own disorganization. But Ill just shut up.

I always feel that the mass confusion (Wicked!Book is really VERY confusing, I will admit, but Confessions was like what happened when Gregory got all the chaos off of his chest and sat down to write something a little more simple) was kind of how he worked. Wicked is set up very oddly, and the plot is weird but his writing style in that book is sooo bogged down. I say it over and over, BOGGED. Confessions is lovely.

But I can pick out Gregory from a lineup of other writers (the good fanfic writers that choose his styles shall not count)...he has a distinctive way of describing things. Maaaybe it's just me.
