Past Secrets = Bad at Midnight

*Giggles madly* I shouldn't read the rewrites of one of my old favorite stories at midnight. Actually, I shouldn't read at midnight at all.
I've been a bad Maddy, not keeping up with Past Secrets and all. So, I decided I should start reading before Section 2 comes about. I was hypnotized to the screen, happily reading what I loved to randomly fangirl over (now in a new fantastic rewritten flavor! Lovin' it. ^_^) I was halfway into Chapter 1 when all of a sudden this little line came up...
“What should it matter to you? You can just get some other slave to replace me.” She jerked her arm away from him. “It’s not like they’re deep, anyway.”
“That’s really not the point, love...”
She glared at him, standing and moving away. “Don’t you dare call me that unless you fucking mean it.”
At first, I think I missed it. I'd read this chapter before. But apparently this time around, my half-asleep mind took over and went about replacing the voices, and I had to reread it a few times. I think I've finally figured out the random inspiration for not only the New! and Improved! Draken, but also some of A'mael's general plot lines.
Trisha pulled her wrist away from Drake, narrowing her eyes in a glare. "What? Didn't notice the scars before? You can still get a good price for me when you're done, so don’t go all fretting over them."
“Pet, that’s not why I—”
“I am NOT your pet!”
I don't think this is a bad thing, it just amuses me that the lines are so similar. I can't remember when I first read Past Secrets, so I may have unconsciously carried things over to A'mael. Or, maybe I didn't and this is very, very odd. Either way, I'm highly amused. Maybe I'm the only one, though...
Oh, and, *pokes reader* hey you! Yeah, you! Since either stuck around until now, (OR skipped the lj-cut) I would highly advise you to go HERE and get reading!

Date: 2004-12-04 06:43 pm (UTC)See, bad little Maddy, I am. I don't know WHERE I've been for the past year, because I hadn't read the rewrite!
Love both versions. ^_^ The original version was the one I was drawn into when I was...9...or 10, I can't remember, and yet the rewrite is beautiful, and all shiny and new. I now have the urge to read the original version upon finishing up the second 1 rewrite.
Also looked at the latest snippets of comic-age. I read the comic as it came out, too. Another wonderful thing.
All that's left to start is a movie and a musical. Then the Past Secret franchise is finished. Mm...musicals...

The thing I don't like about the orignal is that I was pressured (peer pressure) into adding in a lot of the sexual content. I don't like having scenes focusing on that, just for the purpose of having porn. If it's like... the scene of Adian molesting Snowhawk and Janus is watching (all "... ¬¬ kill brother.") while Anya's got him pinned down, then it has a purpose other than "Let's put some sex here! :D" I got the person that pressured me into putting a lot of that in there out of my life, and I stopped really taking suggestions of how I should write it. My story after all.
